Purchase: I bought this girth from Apple Saddlery in Ontario via their Web site in spring of 2008. It was $CAD 47.95, normally $CAD 96.95. The reduced price was because the chestnut colored girths were on clearance. My lucky day since I needed one to match my Duett Foxhunter Companion. This came pretty close and offered all of the functionality I wanted.
Likes: The leather while not top notch is actually very nice, especially for the price. The girth is well constructed, padded with elastic on both sides. Roller buckles plus a center ring for a breastcollar, shoofly or training equipment. I love its anatomical shape to work with my gelding’s more forward girthline. It's very had to find an anatomical or ergonomic girth without spending $300+. Chetak makes a wonderful alternative for those who don't have the budget or will to spend several hundred dollars on a high-end girth. I'd found a forum where several brands were discussed and aside from the County Logic girth, the Chetak Ronja got the next highest marks, even over other models from higher end makers.
Dislikes: For the money, I can't complain at all. It's exactly what I needed and for the price is a very pleasant surprise!
Quality: Economy price but the quality surpasses the expectation one might have for such an affordable item. It is great for the money and has broken in nicely with minimal oiling.
Summary: If you are looking for functionality at a price you can afford, I think you will find the Chetak Ronja a very pleasant surprise. Anatomical girths are a wonderful thing to have in your tack room and Chetak puts it in just about every one's price range. I just wish I could find a brown dressage model that was available in North America! I may have to make my first Scandinavian web purchase to get one.
