Purchase: I have a 16hh Akhal-Teke stallion with a totally straight back and high-ish withers. We tried 12 saddles on him and the only tree that fitted him were Bates Isabel and Frank Baines Reflex but Bates was really wide and uncomfortable for me, as I have narrow hips. I had to have the Reflex made for me, so had to wait 10 weeks, they don't keep many in stock but have now ridden in it for two and a half years, do dressage but also ride out in it all the time. It's fantastic. It was expensive - GBP1200, approx USD2400 but really, worth every penny.
Likes: It's perfect for close contact, puts the legs in the right position, leaves room for the shoulders and is fairly light. I can't fault it.
Dislikes: The cantle is fairly high, so you are limited with the range of riders you can put into it. It's probably not a saddle you can put on "any" horse with "any" rider.
Quality: Perfect quality, very straight tree, so fits exceptionally well to a particular type of horse, those with straight backs and higher withers. There are other Frank Baines saddles which fit warmbloods best.
