Purchase: Two months ago, I acquired a rescue Paso Fino. For the first few rides under saddle, I used my spare dressage saddle on him. I much prefer a western type saddle. Knowing that Pasos are difficult to fit, I went on ebay looking for paso saddles. SCS & CTK kept coming up. After reviewing them here, I purchased one Tony had in stock. He guaranteed it to fit after looking at wither tracings and pictures of his back. I only paid $441.00 for this saddle, including shipping.
Likes: Plain and simple, I like every thing about this saddle. The saddle is light weight, well made, and great quality. The seat is memory foam cushion....it feels weird to sit on it. After a few minutes as it heats up, it conforms to your seat bones and thighs. It is remarkably comfortable. The center-fire rigging is new to me. I learned from Tony to start the rigging off of the back D's. I don't know why...but it works. The saddle is incredibly secure on my horse. I only use a thin dressage saddle pad...this saddle has the same memory foam on the underside. It conforms to the horse's back...During an hour ride today, my horse was calm and comfortable. After the ride, there were no missing hairs or unusual marks. Horse seems happy. The stirrups are pre-turned. I found this odd. After a while, I decided that all should be this way.
Dislikes: There is only one thing I do not like about this saddle. I poorly time my purchase of this saddle. I just had major surgery and I am not allowed to ride my horses yet. I had a great friend of my saddle and my horse. Both were incredibly happy. I only wish it could have been me. Another 4 weeks. Oh, I also changed out the girth as my boy is small. The girth that came with the saddle was too long for my horse. Nothing wrong with it...just too long.
Quality: I am very please with the construction and quality of this saddle. The rigging is easy and straight forward. My saddle stays put, my horse is happy, and my wallet isn't empty. The leather is nice and soft. I have conditioned it already. It is light weight and easy to tack up. Per Tony, only a light weight pad like a dressage pad is needed. I found that a typical western pad is too thick and the saddle rolled...Lesson learned.
Summary: I love this saddle and I love Sycamore Creek Saddles. I asked tons and tons of questions...I still do. I thought Tony would have gotten tired of my by now...No that man has the knowledge and patience to do such a job. I am very grateful to him for his help and support for this saddle. Tell me where you can get such great customer service...AFTER....the sale. He has been very helpful...even after he had my money. Other places only care about that dollar and forget about you later. Not him...no way. Wonderful saddle, Great price, Unbeatable customer service. Thank you Tony.
