Purchase: I had a saddle fitter out to see my horse over the winter. After evaluating the saddle, how it is place and how I ride, we discussed pads and wedges. I decided to try wedges since it would be cheaper.
After months of trying different combinations I contacted the saddle fitter to talk about pads again. We had discussed memory foam pads before and they came up again. She had a special on them so I picked one up.
Likes: I absolutely love this pad. My horse has a wide wither and although I had purchased a fairly wide saddle it still had some problems.
This pad changed all that. My horse now moves freer than before and by freeing up her shoulders we have had less training problems (namely lope leads).
The pad comes in a variety of colors to suit any one's taste. The wool outer layer is durable, the inner layer is easy to clean.
Dislikes: There was a slight "break-in" period to get used to the pad, since it lifts the saddle up a little more than other pads. However, the effects on the horse (all positive) are immediate.
Quality: It is very durable and easy to clean. It is of the same or better quality than the more expensive memory foam pads on the market.
Summary: I love it and would recommend this pad to anyone with a saddle fit problem. I would also recommend having a saddle fitter evaluate the saddle, horse and rider too. Since a pad won't fix all problems.
