Purchase: I bought this saddle from a local tack shop and paid around $850 for it on sale.
Likes: I LOVE how I feel in it... puts me in that correct position. It's well made, and the flap is correctly cut so my knee sits right at the pad even with longer stirrups length.
Dislikes: The saddle pinches my horse in the withers. She is a paint mare, but is built more like a thoroughbred. She is pretty narrow in the withers but yet the saddle is WAY too narrow and I don't like this at all. The leather is quite stiff even after a lot of conditioning/oiling. The leather supples up nice, then stiffens up all over again. The breaking in process stinks!
Quality: Quality of the tree, stirrup bars, billets etc. is very nice. I'm pleased with the rugged construction. Quality of the leather is yucky.
Summary: All together, for the retail price of this saddle, I do not think I got what I paid for. I was super excited when I bought it, then when I rode in it I was sorely disappointed. But then again, ever since I rode in my trainer's Bates Caprilli, I probably won't be happy with any saddle other than that.
