Purchase: I purchased this pad through impactgelpad.com. I paid about $185 including shipping. I decided to try one of these pads because of my saddle being slightly ill-fitting.
Likes: I really like this pad. It is durable, good looking, and it actually helped keep my saddle in place. To tell you the truth, I expected the cowhide to rub off after being in contact with the rigging. It hasn't and the pad has maintained it's shape after months of riding. The impact gel conforms to your saddle eliminating pressure points. After using the pad, my horse wasn't sore and seemed to be much happier.
Dislikes: The only thing I don't like about this pad is when I used it without an underpad, my horse acquired bumps on his back. I believe my horse is allergic to something in the pad so I always have to use an underpad with it.
Quality: This pad is very well constructed. There is a layer of impact gel sewn between two layers of felt. It equals 3/4" total. The cowhide is on the wear leathers.
Summary: I highly recommend this pad to anyone that has a sore backed horse. I truly believe this pad helped.
