Purchase: I purchased this saddle used on eBay along with the manufacturer recommended Grandeur saddle pad and Barefoot leathers for $750.00
Likes: The first thing I noticed when I pulled it out of the box was the wonderful leather smell that you only get from a high end saddle. It is extremely well made and I like how much care and attention went in to the construction. It is VERY light weight and so easy to work with. I like the deep seat it provides and one of the big differences I noticed about the Barefoot vs. a Bob Marshall treeless endurance saddle was that it didn’t have that “bareback pad” feeling. The seat attached to the top of the London gave it somewhat of a narrower twist yet still provided that close contact feel of a treeless saddle. My SSH gelding moved very freely in this saddle and actually cantered nicely (without the rodeo style buck he usually does). After my ride I carefully checked the sweat marks and they were even on both sides and his spine was dry! So this tells me that the special Grandeur pad really does work at keeping the saddle off his back.
Dislikes: The only thing I didn't like was the closed stirrup bar that the stirrup leather goes through. Safety stirrups are a must to remedy this! Also, due to the way the Barefoot leathers are styled, it is not possible to run up the irons.
Quality: Extremely well made and out of beautiful soft leather. Deserves a 10+ in this category!
