Purchase: I paid around 30 dollars for this bit from dover. I had recently bought a new horse who was ridden in a pelham by her former owner. She was terribly afraid of the bit, and avoided as much as she could. When I purchased her, i tried her in a corkscrew bit of my trainers. She accepted the bit a lot more, but still was avoiding contact. I tried a slow twist, and she was amazing! She was to strong for a smooth snaffle (her stupid owner had hardened her mouth up), but a slow twist was just what was needed. I bought my own racing dee slow twist just to show/school in.
Likes: Everything! JP Korsteel bits are "Designed with world-renowned Australian trainer, John Patterson, to provide maximum comfort and top performance. The curved mouthpiece eliminates interference and stops bit from hitting the roof of the mouth, allowing room for the tongue. The shape also reduces the severe direct pressure on the bars of the mouth" which makes me much more eager to put this in my horses mouth that a regular bit! Its just the right amount of severeness, yet still soft enough she wants to accept the bit and soften into a nice hunter frame! I don't know what her stupid previous owner was thinking. Shes even gotten so good that i can show her in green rider and she has no issues with not accepting the bit, or racing through it!
Dislikes: nothing.
Quality: It made out of hand polished steel, which should last a while.
Summary: This bit is amazing! It changed my horse.
