Purchase: I purchased this pad at a retail store on sale for 60.00 CAD. I was looking for a one-piece pad made of natural fibres. I like wool products and this one came in a lot of great colours and patterns. I chose a western trail pad, that is not shaped (ie: is squared off and has a wither cutout).
Likes: It is 100% wool and wears unbelievably well! I have had one of my pads for 7 years and it still looks and works great. The cover is still colourful and has not faded much at all. The pad very quickly molds to the horse's back. They come with a wither cutout, which is very nice. This pad helps reduce slippage and does not wander around under the saddle, even on steep hills. They wash up great with warm or cool water (no soap) in the car wash, or with a nail brush and garden hose. Leave in the sun to dry, which works for after rides, too. Can use a bristle brush to loosen dirt and remove hair in between washes, too (then bang pad against a post, works great!)
Dislikes: This pad takes 2 or more days to dry after washing. Otherwise awesome, trouble free pad.
Quality: Very sturdy, dense, even thickness. Fabric cover is of high quality and lots of colours/patterns to chose from (for the designer in us all ;-)
Summary: This pad lives up to its reputation, it wicks moisture away from my horse's back and reduces heat buildup on long rides, which can be a problem with synthetic material. Is a nice looking, easy to use, reasonably priced, low maintenance pad. I heartily recommend it!
