Purchase: Bought used on eBay for around $100. I wanted a saddle just to play around with and start trying English on my horse without needing to break the bank. I wanted an older used saddle because the quality is just so far ahead of what you can get new on a budget.
Likes: I have the wide tree model of this saddle and it is easily wide enough for my tank of a QH. I am also very comfortable in this saddle, as the leather is soft and supple, and I feel like I'm being put in a balanced position. Therefore, in spite of it being a very flat saddle, I felt perfectly secure - in spite of being accustomed to Western saddles.
Dislikes: I can't really think of anything. The lack of knee rolls and blocks might be a problem for other people, or if I ever want to jump big jumps, but for now I actually prefer the flat close contact.
Quality: Well by the time I got to this saddle it was probably over 20+ years, and while of course there was wear, everything is basically ok - so that is a testament to durable construction. If you are on a budget I highly recommend getting an old Made in England saddle like this one instead of a new cardboard piece of junk.
Summary: I love this saddle and if you stumble across one, I say get it!
