Purchase: I bought this saddle in a package from hitchingposttack.com for $999 with free shipping, free girth, leathers, irons and gullet kit. I bought this for my high-withered QH that I just got.
Likes: This is one of the most comfortable saddles I've ever had. I can ride all day on the trail or have an intense schooling session in this ring with this saddle. I love the set-back stirrup bars, I'm not fighting to hold a position in this saddle. I find that it makes it incredibly simple to stay balanced and my instructor is much happier with me now! hehe. This saddle also has a cut back wither, so higher withered horses like my gelding can wear this saddle too, a problem that I had with my second choice (a Stubben) was that the wither wasn't cut back enough, so that is awesome in this saddle. I like the deep seat of this saddle too. I do a lot of trails and ripping around through the woods, so the deep seat is nice on the rare occasion my horse spooks at something (read: crazy neighbor with his mini-bulldozer working on his latest project in the back yard) or throws a buck. Also handy when Baloo has a flashback that hes not actually a dressage/trail horse and thinks he's a gaming horse and decides to rip around a corner or thinks a tree is a barrel. Also well made, has stood up to me riding in it regularly on LONG trails, schooling, etc without cleaning it or anything for 2 years and only shows some wear from where the stirrups rubbed it, like any saddle would, cosmetic wear only.
Dislikes: not much. could have a little more curve to the tree, but nothing that causes a bad fit. my horse has an oddly flat back anyways because he's so butt-low.
Quality: well made. As stated above, I've used it well for 2 years and it shows only cosmetic wear from the stirrup leathers rubbing.
Summary: Definitely ranks high on my list! My only wish is that I could shell out the money for the Bates leather version, as I'm a leather fan, but otherwise, A+ if you've got a horse like mine with a flat back, because the saddle isn't very curvy, I definitely say its a great saddle!
