Purchase: I borrowed this video from a friend after attending a Kenny Harlow Clinic. He paid about $35 for the tape at the clinic. I wanted to further study Kenny's methods of roundpenning and breaking.
Likes: The tape was an accurate 'best case scenario' version of the round penning and breaking techniques he uses in his clinics. Actually I think it is mostly straight footage from a clinic. The tape is largely uncut and realisticly thorough.
Kenny's methods are very similiar to John Lyons, who trained him, and I enjoyed reliving Kenny's gentle and effective style with the unbroke.
Dislikes: For the price, the video is of poor quality. One could achieve about the same quality by bringing a home video camera to a clinic and shooting. However, if you have never been to a clinic but are interested in Kenny, it would probably be worthwhile to check this tape out. If you've been to a clinic, you've already seen everything you'll get on the tape. The information is great, just the presentation is lacking.
Quality: Light quality in the video could have been better, as could sound quality.
Summary: If you want to see Kenny Harlow at work, and there are no clinics near you to audit, this tape is worth buying, but be prepared to feel like you are watching a home video. Despite some production flaws, Kenny's work with the horse is all clearly visable, and all necessary information is readily accessible. For a lesser price, I'd say it was an excellent training tool.
