Black Suede Half Chaps
English Chaps/Boots/Helmets
Manufacturer: TuffRider
Model: Black Suede Half Chaps
Category: English Chaps/Boots/Helmets
Purchase: I bought my chaps about 3 years ago at a local tack shop. I got them because they were affordable but nice looking, and I didn't need fancy and expensive chaps.
Likes: I probably paid between $45-60 for these chaps, and after 3 years and riding multiple times a week (some weeks I ride nearly every day, sometimes 2-4 horses a day. ), they have held up perfectly. They have definitely been though a lot of use, and the stitching is perfect, the snaps are all still intact and work great, the zipper works, the straps that go underneath your boots are still perfect..
You can also feel your horse with these, they aren't bulky and thick. Although mine are very well broke in, I don't really remember what they were like at first, but I know I had no problems with them. The suede on the inside of the leg has basically turned to leather with use.
Dislikes: I rode a few times in these without jeans on, just shorts and chaps on my bare legs (not that that's something people usually do), and some of the black coloring sweated onto my legs, so they were streaked black.
The color has never rubbed off onto anything other than that, though.
Also, sometimes the zipper gives me a little trouble with starting. Once you get it hooked right, though, it's perfect. I've only started having slight trouble with that recently, and it's not a big deal.
Quality: Although these aren't the nicest chaps or anything, they must have been constructed quite well for them to be in the condition that they are after all that I've used them.
I've used them ALOT and the only signs are that the suede has gotten kind of.. "shaggy" I guess. It's not completely smooth, like it's kind of pilled in a way. Nothing serious. Also, like any suede chaps, the inside of the leg has gotten leather-like.
Summary: For any beginning rider, or recreational rider, or just someone who's looking for an affordable, lasting pair of chaps, I would say these would be great for you.
I have nothing to complain about, especially considering the price.
