Purchase: I Purchased this saddle from Chicks Saddlery on line, paid $1299.00 plus 19.95 shipping.
Likes: The quality is everything I had hoped for, and when I compare it to my handmade wade roper that I had made for me 10 years ago and paid $3700. It is as pleasing, and comparable quality. The tooling and leather work are beautiful....it is like a work of art, not just a saddle. The tree is shaved in the pelvis area to give a closer narrower feel to the seat. I can't wait to rope with it. It fits my horses well without pressure points on the shoulders.
Dislikes: I was horrified to read the negative review after I had ordered this saddle on line...I tried to cancel the saddle and found out it had already been shipped. The people at chicks saddlery assured me that the Longhorn simco company had high quality products and that i could return the saddle if I was at all unhappy with it....but they thought I would be happy when I received it.
Quality: There was one flaw I found when I adjusted the stirrups as one fender leather was about 2" longer than the other...I have brought this to the dealerships attention and anticipate an easy fix.
Summary: My husband and I run a cow/calf operation in British Columbia Canada, we ride and rope and brand our cattle as his family has done since they ranched in the Nebraska sandhills and moved to Saskatchewan sandhills almost 4 generations ago. This saddle has a real ranchers stamp of approval and I won't hesitate to recommend it to my social circle of Team Ropers who will notice my "Fancy Saddle".
