Purchase: Purchased through Schnieders Tack - on line Stack.com. Paid about $16.
Likes: The pad is neatly made - higher (thicker) on one side and lower (thinner) on the other. It fits most standard and adjustable stirrups and comes in standard sizes. The pair I purchased are white - I'm not sure if they come in other colors.
The construction is great - fairly heavy. Easy to place in the stirrup.
The first day using them was, I'll admit, a little odd. The stirrup pads force your heel down and it took a bit to get used too. You can really feel the stretch in your leg muscles. It surprised me as I have a very balanced seat and leg (so my trainer tells me) but with these pads you really stretch down. I didn't tell my trainer that I was using new pads and she kept commenting that my leg was great. I jumped some lower level fences 1m and 1.5m and my leg and heel stayed down and by the end of our schooling I had completely forgotten about the new pads.
Dislikes: Nothing to dislike.
* You may wish to check on rules in the EQ ring as these may not be legal. I ride jumpers so no problem.
Quality: Thick heavy rubber with deep treads.
Summary: I'm big on trying new things - anything that might make my riding better. These are a big plus and they're inexpensive so worth a try. Even if they are not legal in the EQ/Hunter ring - they're great for schooling.
