Category: Grooming Equipment

Purchase: I purchased it over the phone from "", formerly Country Supply, in Louisiana, MO. I bought it with the intent to replace a ten year old Laube Mini Lazor Shear unit. It paid $140.

Likes: It is very light weight in the hand. It is quite quiet. It generates very little heat.

Dislikes: It struggled to cut the second-growth body hair on a somewhat refined-coated horse. It is so light weight and the blade speed so slow that the blades are challenged to cut at a normal hand movement speed - it was a challenge not to push the clippers faster than it could cut hair, which meant that clipping time was significantly increased. It is unable to satisfactorily cut through leg hair as well. I found it is unsuitable for true body clipping.

Quality: Reasonably well constructed. Having used the unit only once (it was the first and last time), it's hard to have much more comment other than I was quite unsatisfied with its cutting performance.

Summary: This clipper was highly recommended by those clipping as many as 50 horses in a season. From my experience I don't know how that could possibly be. Between its very light weight and its low blade cutting speed, the clippers were so challenged to cut a second-growth refined-haired horse it took me almost twice as long as normal to do a full body clip with this unit. Even if relegated to do only legs as is described by some literature, it still had problems. With this experience, this clipper would not be my choice for body or leg clipping horses - I'm not sure how it can be considered a contender to supplant or replace true body clipping clippers. There are other lightweight models I have used in the past that I would recommend over this one.
