Purchase: I was reading a Young Rider magazine, when I turned to a page that said about a club called Pony. If you join the club, they will send you all different kinds of horse items. Of course I would also have to pay money. I asked my parents, and they said yes, so I signed up, and got crazy horse stickers, books about horses, posters, little stuffed animals, and all sorts of other things in each shipment. Finally, I got another shipment, and when I opened it up and took out all the stuff, I found a hoof pick. The first shipment was five dollars, but the rest were twenty dollars. I'm not exactly sure how much the hoof pick cost because there were other items in the box, and it didn't say how much for each item.

Dislikes: What I don't like about the unit is that it's plastic. If my hands are sweaty, or if I don't have that good of gripping gloves, then the hoof pick will keep sliding out of my hands, or my hands will keep sliding around. The hoof pick breaks a bit easier, too, because it's plastic, and not metal. Sometimes, you might actually want the pointier-end hoof pick in case theirs dirt right up against it, and the flatter kind, like mine, won't be able to get it. My hoof pick is also very wide and if there's a stone under the horse's horse shoe, then mine can't reach it.

Quality: The hoof pick is made out of hard plastic, and the brush on the hoof pick has stiff bristles. It's in pretty good shape right now because I don't have a horse of my own, but I have used it before on my friends horse. The rate on a scale for the construction, and quality of the unit would be about a four. (I put the number below for the overall score of the unit).

Summary: The hoof pick does have some problems with it, but some good things about it too. I would just love to have a full piece grooming set. Next year I might lease a horse to take to the fair, and I would like to have a grooming set. Thank you for taking the time to read this review.
