Purchase: Purchased used from Rick’s Heritage Saddlery for $600. 17.5 seat, medium wide tree, wool flocked panels
Likes: This saddle is extremely comfortable and grippy. The leather is quite nice - supple, but not thin/delicate. It has a small thigh block that is supportive, but not obtrusive. The seat has a nice balance point, isn’t too deep, and is nicely padded. Best of all, my hard to fit horse loves this saddle! It has a nice wide gullet, moderately curvy tree, and the panels have a k or skid row shape, so it works well for a horse with wither hollows. I know that this saddle was available with foam or wool panels; my saddle has wool flocked panels.
Dislikes: The harvest gold color is quite red, which is not in fashion at the moment. The original wool flocking was very uneven (overstuffed toward the cantle and thin near the pommel).
Quality: This is a very well made saddle. The leather is very nice (soft, durable, and beautiful), the stitching is tight, and the design is comfortable for both the horse and the rider.
Summary: I love this saddle!
Usefulness Rating: 3 out of 5.
